Before co-founding North Star Criminal Defense, Mr. Gempeler started his own criminal defense practice – Gempeler Law – where he quickly gained a reputation of getting favorable results for his clients. And prior to that, Mr. Gempeler was a prosecutor for a local jurisdiction. Mr. Gempeler uses his experience as a prosecutor to understand each matter from the State's perspective as he develops each clients personalized case strategy. The jury deliberated for only 45-minutes – a remarkably short amount of time – before returning with a verdict in favor of Mr. Gempeler’s client. He is a volunteer coach for the William Mitchell and Maple Grove High School Trial Teams. And he is a mentor to first-year law students at William Mitchell and to a student at his Alma Mater, Gustavus Adolphus College.

Mr. Gempeler is an active and involved member of the Criminal Defense and Solo/Small-Firm sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Gempeler is licensed in both state and federal court.

Mr. Gempeler graduated with honors from the William Mitchell College of Law after finishing in the top-7% of his class. He was involved in numerous organizations and was a member of the Trial Team that finished in the top-4 of a national trial competition. In his free-time, Mr. Gempeler enjoys the fun and challenges associated with raising two girls. He is an avid golfer and sports fan.
